Analyzing Vaccines at Nanoscale
Read an interview from Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News (GEN) with Mandy Janssen, Scientific Group Leader for Nanoparticle Characterization, about how cryo-TEM imaging can support your vaccine design and development process. Janssen explains what transmission electron microscopy can see in your vaccine formulation, including particle size, concentration, contamination, proper protein folding, and more. Janssen describes how can give you a direct visualization of your vaccine formulation on a per-particle basis in order to understand any potential roadblocks in research and development, or even after the product has gone to market.
"During and after bioprocessing a vaccine, many things can go wrong, and it’s not easy to see the problem. So, scientists at California-based NanoImaging Services use transmission electron microscopy (TEM) to analyze vaccines—and a wide range of other nanoparticles, most commonly sized anywhere from five to 400 nanometers."
